Who we are

DealComparer is operated by Edge Digital Solutions LTD, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 11540507) with its registered office in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. For data protection purposes, Edge Digital Solutions LTD is the data controller of personal data collected through dealcomparer.com.

What we collect

We collect a deliberately small amount of data. We do not require you to register an account or provide personal information to use DealComparer.

• Anonymised analytics via Google Analytics 4 — standard event data (pages visited, referrer, approximate location to country/region level, browser type, device class). IP addresses are anonymised. We do not enable Google Signals or cross-device tracking. Analytics only uses cookies if you accept them in our cookie banner (see Cookies below).
• Click-out events — when you click through to a retailer, we log the product, retailer, and a SHA-256 hash of your user-agent string (truncated to 16 characters). We do not store your raw IP, name, or any identifying data against these events. The hash exists solely to estimate unique-click counts for affiliate fraud detection.
• Communications — if you email us, we keep the email and any attachments for as long as needed to handle the enquiry.

Cookies

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing optional is set until you choose, Reject is as easy as Accept, and the site works the same either way.

• de_consent (strictly necessary, set by us) — remembers your choice so we don't ask on every page. Lasts 6 months, after which we ask again.
• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — only if you accept. Used to count visits and understand page-level usage; they last up to 2 years.

We use Google Consent Mode: until you accept, Google Analytics is told not to store cookies or identifiers, and Google may receive only basic, cookieless signals (such as that a page was viewed). We do not set advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social-network tracking cookies. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.

Changing your choice: click Cookie settings (also in every page footer) at any time. If you switch to Reject we delete the Google Analytics cookies. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings.

Affiliate links and how we earn money

DealComparer is an independent comparison engine that earns commission from qualifying purchases via affiliate links. When you click a "View retailer" or product link on DealComparer, you are sometimes redirected via an affiliate network (currently Awin, PartnerBoost, and others including CJ Affiliate and Tradedoubler as we onboard them). If you then complete a purchase on the retailer's site, we may receive a small commission paid by the retailer at no extra cost to you.

This commission has zero effect on rankings or which products surface. Our comparison ordering is determined by live price, retailer coverage, and data freshness — not commission rate. See our editorial policy for the methodology.

Affiliate networks may set their own cookies on your browser when you click through to a retailer; their cookie use is governed by the retailer's and the network's own privacy policies once you leave dealcomparer.com.

How long we keep data

• Analytics data: retained at Google Analytics' default of 14 months, after which it's aggregated.
• Click-out events: retained indefinitely in aggregated form (no personal identifiers); raw event rows older than 12 months are pruned.
• Email correspondence: retained for up to 3 years for support continuity, then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. Because we don't collect personally identifying data through normal site use, most rights requests are satisfied by simply confirming we hold no record matching you. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, write to hello@digitaledge.uk and we will action the request within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you believe we have mishandled your data.

Children

DealComparer is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data about minors. If you believe a child has interacted with the site in a way that requires our attention, please email us.

We'll update this page when our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes are summarised at the top of this page when they happen.
