Choose the size for your room first. A common rule for 4K TVs is to sit about 1 to 1.5 times the screen size away (a 55-inch screen at roughly 1.4–2.1m). Further away, a bigger screen is easier to justify.

Buying televisions in the UK: what to check
Panel type matters most for picture quality: OLED gives perfect blacks and wide viewing angles; QLED and Mini LED get brighter for sunny rooms. Check which HDR formats are supported (HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision).
For gaming, look for HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K at 120Hz and VRR. Compare the smart platform too (Google TV, webOS, Tizen and others) for the apps you use.
Model numbers change between years and regions. Compare the exact model code across retailers, as an older or different-spec model can look similar.

TVs & Home Cinema: frequently asked questions
›What size TV should I buy?
For 4K, roughly 1 to 1.5 times the screen size in viewing distance works well: about 1.4–2.1m for 55 inches and 1.7–2.5m for 65 inches. Personal preference and room layout matter more than any rule.
›Is OLED or QLED better?
OLED has better contrast and viewing angles; QLED and Mini LED models are usually brighter, which helps in bright rooms. Both can look excellent; compare reviews of the specific models.
